Mobile Payments
The Concept of a smartphone has evolved so quickly that it has been engraved into our individual lives without us knowing how this transformation came to be. In the earlier days of mobile computing only "geeks" and "business execs" were the typical target audience of a smartphones and pda usage. This isn't t case today thanks to the iPhone and Blackberry revolution, which made these devices  attractive to the average consumer and viola!! The smartphone revolution reaches a whole new level. (Android also played a key role). Among the myriad number of accessories and application out there for iPhone OS devices I discovered Square, a mobile payment platform that allow users to be able to make payments by swiping their credit cards or by manually entering its details on their mobile phone. Suare aims to make mobile payments cashless and seamless amongst mobile users. Square can be used by iPhone and Android devices and hence a greater number of consumers can try it.

How it works? The System has two components, the hardware and the square application on your mobile device. The hardware is a small plastic device that fits into the earphone jack of the device. Capable of reading from credit cards and feeding this data to the app on the phone. After that the user has to specify the amount to use and confirm with a signature, very easy and intuitive process. The user also specifies their email so that they can receive a digital receipt of the transaction. Very smart and global solution to payments and this aims to transcend all forms of payments not only electronic transactions.
Seems like the move to a paperless world has already taken a higher speed.
